St. Bernard of Clairvaux On Loving God Chapter I -- AI Modern English & Vietnamese

Chapter I. Why we should love God and the measure of that love

"You want me to tell you why God is to be loved and how much. I answer, the reason for loving God is God Himself; and the measure of love due to Him is immeasurable love. Is this plain? Doubtless, to a thoughtful man; but I am debtor to the unwise also. A word to the wise is sufficient; but I must consider simple folk too. Therefore I set myself joyfully to explain more in detail what is meant above." (https://ccel.org/ccel/b/bernard/loving_god/)

You've asked me to explain why and how much we should love God. My answer is straightforward: we should love God because He is God. And the extent of that love? It should be boundless. Is that clear? For someone who thinks deeply, it should be. But I also have a responsibility to those who don't. A wise person needs only a hint, but I must also consider those who are less experienced. So, I'll gladly elaborate on what I've just said.

"We are to love God for Himself, because of a twofold reason; nothing is more reasonable, nothing more profitable. When one asks, Why should I love God? he may mean, What is lovely in God? or What shall I gain by loving God? In either case, the same sufficient cause of love exists, namely, God Himself." (https://ccel.org/ccel/b/bernard/loving_god/)

We should love God for who He is, for two main reasons: it's both the most logical thing to do and the most rewarding. When someone asks, "Why should I love God?" they might be asking one of two things: "What is it about God that's lovable?" or "What benefit will I get from loving God?" Regardless of which question they're asking, the answer is the same: the reason to love God is God Himself.

"And first, of His title to our love. Could any title be greater than this, that He gave Himself for us unworthy wretches? And being God, what better gift could He offer than Himself? Hence, if one seeks for God's claim upon our love here is the chiefest: Because He first loved us (I John 4.19)." (https://ccel.org/ccel/b/bernard/loving_god/)

Let's start with God's right to our love. Could there be a greater claim than this: He gave Himself for us, even though we are undeserving? And since He is God, what better gift could He possibly give than Himself? Therefore, if you're looking for God's strongest claim on our love, it's this: He loved us first (1 John 4:19).

"Ought He not to be loved in return, when we think who loved, whom He loved, and how much He loved? For who is He that loved? The same of whom every spirit testifies: Thou art my God: my goods are nothing unto Thee' (Ps. 16.2, Vulg.). And is not His love that wonderful charity which seeketh not her own'? (I Cor.13.5). But for whom was such unutterable love made manifest? The apostle tells us: When we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son' (Rom. 5.10). So it was God who loved us, loved us freely, and loved us while yet we were enemies. And how great was this love of His? St. John answers: God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life' (John 3.16). St. Paul adds: He spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all' (Rom. 8.32); and the Son says of Himself, Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends' (John 15.13)." (https://ccel.org/ccel/b/bernard/loving_god/)

Shouldn't we love Him back when we consider who loved, who was loved, and how much love was shown? Who is this that loved? It's the one every spirit acknowledges: 'You are my God; my good comes from you' (Psalm 16:2). And isn't His love that amazing selfless love that 'does not seek its own'? (1 Corinthians 13:5). But for whom was this incredible love revealed? The apostle tells us: 'While we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son' (Romans 5:10). So, God loved us, loved us freely, and loved us even when we were His enemies. And how great was this love? John tells us: 'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life' (John 3:16). 1 Paul adds: 'He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all' (Romans 8:32). And the Son himself says, 'Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends' (John 15:13).

"This is the claim which God the holy, the supreme, the omnipotent, has upon men, defiled and base and weak. Some one may urge that this is true of mankind, but not of angels. True, since for angels it was not needful. He who succored men in their time of need, preserved angels from such need; and even as His love for sinful men wrought wondrously in them so that they should not remain sinful, so that same love which in equal measure He poured out upon angels kept them altogether free from sin." (https://ccel.org/ccel/b/bernard/loving_god/)

This is the claim that God, holy, supreme, and all-powerful, has on humanity, a humanity that is flawed, lowly, and weak. Someone might argue that this applies to humans, but not to angels. That's correct, because angels didn't need it. The one who helped humans in their time of need kept angels from ever experiencing that need. Just as His love for sinful humans worked miraculously to transform them, so that they wouldn't remain sinful, that same love, poured out equally on angels, kept them completely free from sin.

1 Đức Chúa Jêsus đầy dẫy Đức Thánh Linh, từ sông Giô-đanh trở về, và được Đức Thánh Linh dẫn vào đồng vắng, 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 tại đó Ngài bị ma quỷ cám dỗ trong bốn mươi ngày. 2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered. 3 Ma quỷ nói, “Nếu ngươi là Con Đức Chúa Trời, hãy truyền cho hòn đá này trở thành bánh.” 3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. 4 Đức Chúa Jêsus đáp, “Có lời chép rằng: ‘Người ta sống chẳng phải chỉ nhờ bánh mà thôi, nhưng còn nhờ mọi lời nói ra từ miệng Đức Chúa Trời.’” 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. 5 Ma quỷ dẫn Ngài lên một ngọn núi cao, và trong giây lát chỉ cho Ngài thấy mọi nước trên đất, 5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 và nói rằng: Ta sẽ cho ngươi hết thảy quyền phép và vinh quang nầy; vì đã giao cho ta rồi, ta muốn cho ai tùy ý. 6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 Nếu ngươi thờ lạy ta, thì mọi sự sẽ thuộc về ngươi. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8 Đức Giê-su đáp: “Có lời chép rằng: ‘Ngươi phải thờ phượng Chúa là Đức Chúa Trời ngươi, và chỉ hầu việc một mình Ngài mà thôi.’” 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. 9 Ma quỷ đem Ngài vào thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, đặt Ngài trên nóc đền thờ và nói: “Nếu ngươi là Con Đức Chúa Trời, hãy gieo mình xuống đi. 9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: 10 Vì có lời chép rằng: “Chúa sẽ truyền cho các thiên sứ gìn giữ ngươi,” 10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: 11 Và họ sẽ nâng ngươi trên tay, kẻo chân ngươi vấp phải đá.” 11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12 Đức Giê-su đáp: “Có lời chép rằng: ‘Ngươi đừng thử thách Chúa là Đức Chúa Trời ngươi.’” 12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 13 Sau khi ma quỷ đã dùng hết mọi cách để cám dỗ Ngài, nó bỏ Ngài một thời gian. 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

1 Vào năm thứ mười lăm dưới triều đại của Sê-sa Ti-bê-ri-út, khi Bôn-xơ Phi-lát làm thống đốc xứ Giu-đê, Hê-rốt làm tể tướng xứ Ga-li-lê, em trai ông là Phi-líp làm tể tướng xứ I-tu-rê-a-Trachônít, và Ly-sa-ni-a làm tể tướng xứ A-bi-len, 1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene, 2 trong thời kỳ An-ne và Cai-pha làm thầy tế lễ thượng phẩm, lời Đức Chúa Trời đã đến với Giăng, con trai của Xa-cha-ri trong đồng vắng. 2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. 3 Ông đi khắp miền quanh sông Giô-đanh, rao giảng về sự nhúng mình trong nước để được tha tội, 3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; 4 như đã chép trong sách tiên tri Ê-sai, Có tiếng kêu trong đồng vắng rằng: Hãy dọn đường cho Chúa, làm cho thẳng các nẻo Ngài. 4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 5 Mọi thung lũng sẽ được lấp đầy, mọi núi đồi sẽ được san bằng, mọi đường quanh co sẽ được uốn thẳng, đường gồ ghề sẽ được san bằng, 5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; 6 và mọi người sẽ thấy sự cứu rỗi của Đức Chúa Trời. 6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

17 Người cầm rê trong tay để làm sạch sân lúa, gom lúa mì vào kho lẫm, nhưng đốt rơm trong lửa không hề tắt." 17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable. 18 Vậy, ông khuyên bảo bằng nhiều lời khác, tiếp tục rao giảng Tin Mừng cho dân chúng. 18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people. 19 Nhưng Hê-rốt, vua chư hầu, bị Giăng khiển trách về Hê-rô-đia, vợ của Phi-líp, anh trai mình, và về mọi điều gian ác mà Hê-rốt đã làm, 19 But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved by him for Herodias his brother Philip's wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, 20 lại thêm điều này vào danh sách: ông bắt giam Giăng. 20 Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison. 21 Toàn thể dân chúng đều được dìm mình, và Chúa Giê-su cũng được dìm mình. Trong khi Người đang cầu nguyện, các tầng trời mở ra, 21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, 22 và Chúa Thánh Thần—trong hình dạng chim bồ câu—đỗ xuống trên Người, và có tiếng từ trời phán rằng: "Con là Con yêu dấu của Ta. Ta hài lòng về Con." 22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

12 Những người thu thuế đến để chịu phép báp-têm của Ngài và hỏi rằng: “Thưa Thầy, chúng tôi phải làm gì?” 12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? 13 Ngài đáp rằng: “Đừng đòi hỏi quá số tiền đã ấn định cho các ngươi.” 13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. Ngài đáp rằng: “Đừng tống tiền ai, đừng tống tiền ai, và hãy bằng lòng với số tiền công của chú ng tôi.” 14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. 15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; 16 Ông trả lời, "Tôi dìm các người trong nước; nhưng có một Đấng quyền năng hơn tôi đang đến, tôi không xứng đáng cởi quai dép của Người; Người sẽ dìm các người trong Chúa Thánh Thần và lửa. 16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:

7 Ngài nói với đám đông đang ra để chịu phép báp-têm của Ngài rằng: Hỡi dòng dõi rắn lục, ai đã báo cho các ngươi biết để trốn khỏi cơn thịnh nộ sắp đến? 7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 10 Đám đông hỏi rằng: “Vậy chúng ta phải làm gì?” 10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? 11 Ngài đáp rằng: “Ai có hai áo thì hãy chia cho người không có; ai có thức ăn thì hãy làm như vậy.” 11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.

Nhờ đó, một số người đã vô tình tiếp đãi các thiên sứ. 2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3 Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. 4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. 5 Đừng tham lam. Hãy bằng lòng với những gì mình có, vì chính Ngài đã hứa: "Ta sẽ không bao giờ lìa ngươi, và Ta sẽ không bao giờ từ bỏ ngươi!" 5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Người ta có thể làm gì tôi?" 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. 7 Hãy nhớ đến những người lãnh đạo của bạn đã truyền đạt sứ điệp của Đức Chúa Trời cho bạn. Khi bạn quan sát cách sống của họ, hãy bắt chước lòng trung thành của họ. 7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. 8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. 10 Chúng ta có một bàn thờ mà những người hầu việc trong đền thờ không được phép ăn. 10 We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. 11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. 12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. 13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. 14 For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. 15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. 16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. Hãy phục tùng họ để họ có thể khai trình một cách vui vẻ, không phải với lời phàn nàn, điều đó sẽ gây bất lợi cho anh em. 17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. 18 Hãy cầu nguyện cho chúng tôi. Chúng tôi tin rằng mình có lương tâm tốt, mong muốn sống một cách tôn kính trong mọi sự. 18 Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly. 19 But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. 20 Nguyện Đức Chúa Trời của sự bình an, là Đấng đã đem Chúa chúng ta là Đức Chúa Jêsus, là Đấng chăn chiên vĩ đại, từ cõi chết đến, bằng huyết của giao ước đời đời, 20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 trang bị cho anh em mọi điều tốt lành để làm theo ý muốn của Ngài. Nguyện Ngài thực hiện trong chúng ta điều đẹp lòng Ngài, qua Đức Chúa Jêsus Christ, Đấng vinh hiển thuộc về Ngài đời đời vô cùng! A-men! 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. 22 Tôi khuyên anh em, hỡi anh em, hãy tiếp nhận lời khuyên bảo này, vì tôi đã viết vắn tắt cho anh em. 22 And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words. 23 Anh em chúng ta là Ti-mô-thê đã được thả ra, nếu anh ấy đến ngay, tôi sẽ cùng anh ấy đi thăm anh em. 23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you. 24 Xin chào tất cả các nhà lãnh đạo của anh em và tất cả các thánh đồ. Những người từ Ý chào anh em. 24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. 25 Nguyện xin ân điển ở cùng tất cả anh em. 25 Grace be with you all. Amen.

16 Hãy coi chừng, kẻo có ai gian dâm hoặc vô đạo đức như Ê-sau, là người đã từ bỏ quyền trưởng nam của mình vì một bữa ăn. 16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. 18 Anh em đã không đến một ngọn núi có thể chạm vào, hay đến một ngọn lửa rực cháy, hay một đám mây đen, hay bóng tối dày đặc, hay một cơn lốc, 18 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 19 hay tiếng kèn thổi, hay một tiếng nói. 19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: 20 Họ không thể chịu đựng được lệnh truyền: "Nếu một con thú chạm vào núi, nó sẽ bị ném đá." 20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: 21 Cảnh tượng đó quá kinh hoàng đến nỗi Môi-se nói, "Tôi kinh hãi và run rẩy." 21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:) 22 Nhưng anh em đã đến núi Si-ôn, đến thành của Đức Chúa Trời hằng sống, đến Giê-ru-sa-lem trên trời, đến muôn vàn thiên sứ, đến hội chúng vui mừng, 22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 đến hội thánh của những người con đầu lòng (là những người đã được ghi tên trên trời), đến Đức Chúa Trời (Đấng phán xét mọi người), đến các linh hồn của những người công chính (là những người đã được làm cho hoàn hảo), 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 đến Đức Chúa Jêsus (Đấng trung gian của giao ước mới), và đến huyết rảy (là huyết nói tốt hơn huyết của A-bên). 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. 25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: 26 Vào thời điểm đó, tiếng nói của Ngài đã làm rung chuyển trái đất, nhưng bây giờ Ngài đã hứa, "Một lần nữa, Ta sẽ làm rung chuyển không chỉ trái đất, mà cả bầu trời nữa." 26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Vậy nên, vì chúng ta đang nhận được một vương quốc không hề lay chuyển, chúng ta hãy có ơn để phục vụ Đức Chúa Trời một cách đẹp lòng Ngài, với lòng kính sợ và kính sợ, 28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 vì Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta là ngọn lửa thiêu đốt. 29 For our God is a consuming fire.

1 Vậy, vì chúng ta có một đám mây nhân chứng vây quanh, chúng ta hãy cởi bỏ mọi gánh nặng và tội lỗi ràng buộc, kiên nhẫn chạy cuộc đua đã đặt ra cho chúng ta. 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Chúng ta hãy hướng mắt về Đức Chúa Jêsus, là Đấng khởi đầu và hoàn tất đức tin. Vì niềm vui đặt trước mặt Ngài, Ngài đã chịu đựng thập tự giá, không màng đến sự sỉ nhục, và Ngài ngồi xuống bên phải ngai Đức Chúa Trời. 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Hãy suy ngẫm kỹ về Đấng đã chịu sự thù ghét của tội nhân như thế, kẻo anh em nản lòng và bỏ cuộc. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. 4 Anh em vẫn chưa chống trả đến đổ máu trong cuộc chiến chống lại tội lỗi, 4 Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin. 5 và anh em đã quên lời khích lệ đã được nói với anh em như con cái. Hỡi con, đừng coi nhẹ sự sửa phạt của Chúa, và đừng bỏ cuộc khi Ngài sửa phạt anh em. 5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: 6 Chúa yêu thương những ai Ngài sửa phạt, và Ngài sửa phạt mọi con trai mà Ngài nhận làm con. 6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. 7 Hãy chịu đựng sự sửa phạt. Đức Chúa Trời đối xử với anh em như con cái. Có người con nào mà cha không sửa phạt? 7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? 8 Nếu anh em không chịu sửa phạt, là điều mà mọi người đều phải chịu, thì anh em là con hoang, chứ không phải là con. 8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. 9 So với cha về xác thịt, cha chúng ta đã sửa phạt chúng ta, mà chúng ta vẫn kính trọng. Vậy, chúng ta há chẳng càng phải phục tùng Cha về phần hồn để được sống sao? 9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? 10 Thật vậy, cha đã sửa phạt chúng ta theo ý họ muốn, nhưng Ngài đã sửa phạt vì lợi ích của chúng ta, để chúng ta được dự phần vào sự thánh khiết của Ngài. 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. 11 Không có sự sửa phạt nào lúc đầu là dễ chịu, nhưng lại là đau đớn. Nhưng về sau, nó sẽ sinh ra bông trái công bình bình an cho những ai được rèn luyện bởi nó. 11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. 12 Vậy nên, hãy làm thẳng những bàn tay yếu đuối và những đầu gối run rẩy. 12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; 13 Hãy làm cho thẳng con đường dưới chân anh em, để những người què không bị trật khớp, nhưng được chữa lành. 13 And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. 14 Hãy phấn đấu cho sự hòa thuận với mọi người và sự tận tụy, vì nếu không có sự tận tụy, thì không ai sẽ thấy Chúa. 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 15 Hãy coi chừng, kẻo có ai thiếu ân điển của Đức Chúa Trời. Hãy coi chừng, kẻo có rễ đắng nào mọc lên, làm anh em bối rối và làm ô uế nhiều người. 15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;
