32 Ngài sẽ nên cao trọng và được gọi là Con Đấng Tối Cao. Chúa là Đức Chúa Trời sẽ ban cho Ngài ngai vàng của Đa-vít, tổ phụ Ngài. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 Ngài sẽ trị vì nhà Gia-cốp đến đời đời, và vương quốc của Ngài sẽ không bao giờ chấm dứt. 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Ma-ri thưa với thiên sứ: “Việc này sẽ xảy ra thế nào được, vì tôi không biết đến người nam nào?” 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 Thiên sứ đáp: “Đức Thánh Linh sẽ ngự xuống trên bà, và quyền năng của Đấng Tối Cao sẽ bao phủ bà, và Đấng Thánh sinh ra sẽ được gọi là Con Đức Chúa Trời. 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36 Ê-li-sa-bét, bà con của bà, đã thụ thai một con trai trong lúc tuổi già, và đây là tháng thứ sáu với người từng bị gọi là son sẻ, 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 vì không có lời nào của Đức Chúa Trời là không thể được. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Trinh nữ ấy tên là Ma-ri. 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 Thiên thần đến gặp bà và nói rằng: “Chào bà, người được chúc phúc, Chúa ở cùng bà!” 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29 Nghe lời đó, bà vô cùng bối rối, tự hỏi lời chào này có ý nghĩa gì. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 Thiên thần nói với bà: “Ma-ri, đừng sợ. Bà được ơn trước mặt Thiên Chúa. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 Bà sẽ thụ thai, sinh một con trai và đặt tên là Giê-su. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.
18 Xa-cha-ri thưa với thiên sứ rằng: Làm sao tôi biết chắc được điều đó? Tôi đã già, vợ tôi đã cao tuổi rồi. 18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. 19 Thiên sứ đáp rằng: Ta là Gáp-ri-ên, đứng trước mặt Đức Chúa Trời, ta được sai đến để nói với ngươi và báo cho ngươi tin mừng về những điều này. 19 And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. 20 Ngươi sẽ phải nín lặng, không nói được, cho đến khi những điều này xảy ra, vì ngươi không tin lời ta, là lời sẽ ứng nghiệm đúng thời. 20 And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season. 21 Dân chúng đang đợi Xa-cha-ri, và tự hỏi tại sao ông ở trong đền thờ lâu như vậy. 21 And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple. 22 Ông ra ngoài, nhưng không thể nói chuyện với họ. 10 Toàn thể đoàn dân đông đảo đều ở bên ngoài, cầu nguyện vào giờ dâng hương. 10 And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense. 11 Một thiên sứ của Chúa hiện ra với ông bên phải bàn thờ dâng hương. 11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 12 Khi thấy thiên sứ, Xa-cha-ri bối rối và sợ hãi. 12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. 13 Thiên sứ nói với ông: "Hỡi Xa-cha-ri, đừng sợ. Lời cầu nguyện của ngươi đã được nhậm, Ê-li-sa-bét, vợ ngươi, sẽ sinh một con trai, và ngươi sẽ đặt tên cho con là Giăng. 13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. 14 Ngươi sẽ vui mừng và hân hoan, và nhiều người sẽ vui mừng khi con trẻ chào đời. 14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. 15 Con trẻ sẽ nên cao trọng trước mặt Chúa, không uống rượu hay đồ uống có cồn, và sẽ được đầy dẫy Đức Thánh Linh từ trong lòng mẹ. 15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. 16 Con trẻ sẽ khiến nhiều con cái Y-sơ-ra-ên quay về với Chúa là Đức Chúa Trời của họ, 16 And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. 17 và sẽ bước đi trước mặt Chúa trong tinh thần và quyền năng của Ê-li, để hướng lòng cha về với con cái, và kẻ không vâng phục về sự khôn ngoan của người ngay thẳng, để chuẩn bị cho Chúa một dân sẵn sàng. 17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
5 Vào thời Hê-rốt, vua xứ Giu-đê, có một thầy tế lễ tên là Xa-cha-ri (thuộc chi phái A-bi-gia), chồng của Ê-li-sa-bét (thuộc chi phái A-rôn). 5 There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. 6 Cả hai đều công chính trước mặt Đức Chúa Trời, vâng giữ mọi điều răn và luật lệ của Chúa cách trọn vẹn. 6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. 7 Nhưng vì Ê-li-sa-bét không thể sinh con, nên họ không có con, và cả hai đều đã cao tuổi. 7 And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years. 8 Trong khi Xa-cha-ri đang phục vụ với tư cách là một thầy tế lễ theo ban của mình trước mặt Đức Chúa Trời, 8 And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course, 9 theo thông lệ của chức tế lễ, ông được chọn bằng cách bắt thăm để vào đền thờ để đốt hương. 9 According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
