11 Ngài lại nói tiếp: “Một người kia có hai con trai. 11 And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12 Người con thứ thưa với cha: “Xin cha cho con phần gia tài của cha.” Cha liền chia cho hai con. 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13 Ít lâu sau, người con thứ gom góp của cải rồi lên đường đi phương xa, phung phí hết tiền bạc và sống buông tuồng. 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. 14 Sau khi đã tiêu hết tiền, xứ ấy lại gặp nạn đói lớn, nên anh ta lâm vào cảnh túng thiếu. 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

6 Khi về đến nhà, người ấy mời bạn bè và hàng xóm lại, và nói rằng: "Hãy chung vui với tôi, vì tôi đã tìm được con chiên bị mất!" 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7 Tôi bảo thật anh em: Cũng vậy, trên trời sẽ vui mừng vì một tội nhân ăn năn hối cải, hơn là chín mươi chín người công chính không cần phải ăn năn hối cải. 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. 8 Hay có người phụ nữ nào mất một trong mười đồng bạc, lại không thắp đèn, quét nhà và tìm kiếm kỹ lưỡng cho đến khi tìm thấy sao? 8 Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? 9 Khi tìm được rồi, bà ấy gọi bạn bè và hàng xóm lại và nói rằng: "Hãy chung vui với tôi, vì tôi đã tìm được đồng bạc bị mất!" 9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. 10 Cũng vậy, tôi bảo thật anh em: giữa các thiên thần của Đức Chúa Trời sẽ vui mừng vì một tội nhân ăn năn hối cải. 10 Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.
1 Tất cả những người thu thuế và người tội lỗi đều đến gần Ngài để nghe Ngài giảng. 1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him. 2 Nhưng những người Pha-ri-si và các kinh sư lại phàn nàn rằng: "Ông này tiếp đón những người tội lỗi và ăn uống với họ." 2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. 3 Ngài đáp lại họ bằng dụ ngôn này: 3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying, 4 Trong các ngươi, ai có một trăm con chiên mà mất một con, lại không để chín mươi chín con kia ngoài đồng vắng mà đi tìm con chiên bị mất cho đến khi tìm được sao? 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? 5 Khi đã tìm được, người ấy vác nó lên vai và vui mừng. 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
34 Muối thì tốt, nhưng nếu nó mất vị, thì làm sao nêm lại được? 34 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned? 35 Muối chẳng ích gì cho đất hay cho đống rác, mà còn phải vứt đi. Ai có tai, hãy nghe. 35 It is neither fit for the land, nor yet for the dunghill; but men cast it out. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
31 Hoặc có vua nào sắp giao chiến với vua khác, mà trước tiên không ngồi xuống bàn bạc xem có thể đương đầu với vua đang dẫn hai mươi ngàn quân đến đánh mình với mười ngàn quân được không? 31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? 32 Nếu không, khi vua kia còn ở xa, vua ấy đã sai sứ giả đến cầu hòa. 32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace. 33 Vậy, ai trong các ngươi không từ bỏ hết thảy những gì mình có, thì không thể làm môn đồ Ta được. 33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
28 Ai trong anh em muốn xây một tòa tháp mà trước tiên không ngồi xuống tính toán chi phí, xem mình có thể hoàn thành được không? 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it? 29 Nếu đặt nền móng mà không hoàn tất được, thì mọi người thấy sẽ chê cười, 29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him, 30 mà nói: “Người này đã khởi công xây dựng, nhưng không thể hoàn tất.” 30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
25 Có một đoàn dân đông đi theo Ngài. Ngài quay lại và nói với họ: 25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, 26 Nếu ai đến với Ta mà không ghét cha mẹ, vợ con, anh chị em mình, và cả mạng sống mình nữa, thì không thể làm môn đồ Ta được. 26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. 27 Ai không vác thập tự giá mình mà theo Ta, thì không thể làm môn đồ Ta được. 27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
22 Đầy tớ thưa: “Thưa chủ, lời chủ đã truyền rồi, mà vẫn còn chỗ.” 22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23 Chủ đáp: “Hãy ra các đường cái và hàng rào, ép họ đến cho đầy nhà ta. 23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 Ta bảo thật các ngươi, không một ai trong những người đã được mời sẽ được nếm bữa tiệc của ta.” 24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
19 Người khác trả lời: “Tôi đã mua năm cặp bò, và tôi sẽ đi thử chúng. Xin cho tôi kiếu.” 19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. 20 Người thứ ba trả lời: “Tôi đã lấy vợ, nên không thể đến được.” 20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. 21 Người đầy tớ thuật lại những điều này cho chủ mình. Chủ nổi giận và bảo người đầy tớ: “Bây giờ, hãy đi ra các đường phố và ngõ hẻm trong thành phố, đem những người ăn xin, người què, người mù và người tàn tật vào đây.” 21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
16 Đức Giê-su đáp: “Có người kia dọn tiệc thịnh soạn và mời nhiều người. 16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17 Đến giờ ăn, ông sai một đầy tớ đi nói với những người đã được mời: “Mời quý khách đến, tiệc đã sẵn sàng.” 17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18 Mọi người đều tìm cớ thoái thác. Người thứ nhất nói: “Tôi mới mua một thửa ruộng, cần phải đi xem. Xin cho tôi lui.” 18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
