16 Đức Giê-su đáp: “Có người kia dọn tiệc thịnh soạn và mời nhiều người. 16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17 Đến giờ ăn, ông sai một đầy tớ đi nói với những người đã được mời: “Mời quý khách đến, tiệc đã sẵn sàng.” 17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18 Mọi người đều tìm cớ thoái thác. Người thứ nhất nói: “Tôi mới mua một thửa ruộng, cần phải đi xem. Xin cho tôi lui.” 18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.

13 Nhưng khi tiếp đãi, hãy mời những người ăn xin, người què, người tàn tật và người mù. 13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: 14 Họ không có gì để trả ơn cho anh, và anh sẽ được phước; anh sẽ được trả ơn khi người công chính sống lại. 14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just. 15 Một trong những người đồng bàn nghe những lời này, liền nói với Đức Giê-su: “Phước cho người được dự tiệc trong vương quốc Đức Chúa Trời!” 15 And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.
10 Nhưng khi được mời, hãy ngồi chỗ thấp nhất. Nếu chủ nhà nói: "Mời bạn lên chỗ cao hơn", thì bạn sẽ được tôn trọng trước mặt tất cả khách mời. 10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. 11 Ai tự tôn mình lên sẽ bị hạ xuống, còn ai hạ mình xuống sẽ được tôn lên. 11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. 12 Rồi Ngài nói với chủ nhà: "Khi đãi tiệc trưa hay tiệc tối, đừng mời bạn bè, anh em, bà con hay láng giềng giàu có, kẻo họ cũng mời lại bạn, và bạn sẽ được đáp lễ." 12 Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.
7 Ngài thấy khách dự tiệc đều chọn chỗ ngồi danh dự, nên Ngài kể cho họ nghe dụ ngôn này: 7 And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them. 8 Khi có người mời anh em dự tiệc cưới, đừng ngồi chỗ danh dự, kẻo chủ tiệc đã mời người khác quan trọng hơn anh em, 8 thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him; 9 khiến chủ tiệc nói với anh em: "Hãy nhường chỗ cho người này!" Bấy giờ anh em sẽ phải xấu hổ mà xuống ngồi chỗ thấp nhất. 9 And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
4 Họ im lặng. Đức Giê-su chữa lành người ấy, rồi cho anh ta về. 4 And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go; 5 Rồi Người hỏi họ: “Ai trong các ông có con trai hoặc con bò rơi xuống giếng, mà không kéo nó lên ngay trong ngày Sa-bát sao?” 5 And answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the sabbath day? 6 Họ không thể trả lời được. 6 And they could not answer him again to these things.
1 Đức Giê-su vào nhà một thủ lãnh nhóm Pha-ri-si để dùng bữa, và họ đang dòm ngó Người. 1 And it came to pass, as he went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the sabbath day, that they watched him. 2 Trước mặt Người có một người mắc bệnh phù thũng. 2 And, behold, there was a certain man before him which had the dropsy. 3 Đức Giê-su hỏi các luật sĩ và người Pha-ri-si: “Ngày Sa-bát, có được phép chữa bệnh cho người ta không?” 3 And Jesus answering spake unto the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath day?
33 Hôm nay, ngày mai và ngày kia, Ta phải tiếp tục cuộc hành trình, vì một tiên tri không thể chết ngoài Giê-ru-sa-lem. 33 Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem. 34 Hỡi Giê-ru-sa-lem, hỡi Giê-ru-sa-lem, ngươi giết các tiên tri và ném đá những người được sai đến với mình, bao nhiêu lần Ta muốn tập hợp con cái ngươi lại, như gà mái túc con mình dưới cánh, nhưng các ngươi không muốn! 34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not! 35 Nhà ngươi bị bỏ hoang! Ta bảo thật, các ngươi sẽ không thấy Ta nữa cho đến khi các ngươi nói: “Chúc tụng Đấng nhân danh Chúa mà đến. 35 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
30 Kẻ sau hết sẽ lên hàng đầu, kẻ trước hết sẽ xuống hàng cuối cùng. 30 And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last. 31 Khi ấy, có mấy người Pha-ri-si đến thưa Đức Giê-su rằng: “Hãy đi khỏi đây, vì Hê-rốt muốn giết Thầy.” 31 The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. 32 Đức Giê-su đáp: “Hãy đi nói với con cáo ấy rằng: “Hôm nay và ngày mai, Ta trừ quỷ và chữa lành bệnh tật, ngày thứ ba Ta hoàn tất công việc của Ta.” 32 And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third day I shall be perfected.
27 Ngài lại phán: “Ta không biết các ngươi. Hãy lui ra, hỡi tất cả những kẻ làm điều bất chính!” 27 But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. 28 Tại đó, các ngươi sẽ khóc lóc nghiến răng khi thấy Áp-ra-ham, Y-sác, Gia-cốp và tất cả các tiên tri trong vương quốc Đức Chúa Trời, còn các ngươi thì bị đuổi ra ngoài. 28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. 29 Họ sẽ đến từ đông tây nam bắc, và sẽ ngồi trong vương quốc Đức Chúa Trời. 29 And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
24 Hãy cố gắng vào qua cửa hẹp, vì, Ta bảo thật, nhiều người sẽ tìm cách vào mà không được. 24 Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. 25 Khi chủ nhà đứng dậy và đóng cửa lại, các ngươi sẽ đứng ngoài, gõ cửa và nói: "Thưa Chúa, xin mở cho chúng tôi!" Nhưng chủ sẽ trả lời: "Ta không biết các ngươi từ đâu đến." 25 When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: 26 Bấy giờ các ngươi sẽ nói: "Chúng tôi đã từng ăn uống với Ngài, và Ngài đã từng giảng dạy trên các đường phố của chúng tôi." 26 Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
