39 Chúa phán cùng người rằng: Các ngươi là người Pha-ri-si, các ngươi rửa bên ngoài chén đĩa, nhưng bên trong các ngươi đầy sự gian ác và tham lam. 39 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. 40 Hỡi kẻ ngu dại! Đấng dựng nên bên ngoài há chẳng dựng nên bên trong sao? 40 Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also? 41 Hãy lấy những gì bên trong mà dâng, thì mọi sự sẽ sạch cho các ngươi. 41 But rather give alms of such things as ye have; and, behold, all things are clean unto you. 42 Khốn cho các ngươi là người Pha-ri-si! Các ngươi dâng một phần mười bạc hà, hồi hương và mọi thứ rau, mà các ngươi lại bỏ qua sự công bình và lòng yêu mến Đức Chúa Trời. Các ngươi phải thực hành những điều này, trong khi các ngươi không bỏ qua những điều kia. 42 But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

36 Nếu toàn thân anh em sáng láng, không có phần nào tối tăm, thì sẽ sáng láng toàn diện, như khi ngọn đèn soi sáng anh em. 36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. 37 Khi Đức Chúa Jêsus còn đang nói, có một người Pha-ri-si mời Ngài dùng bữa với mình. Ngài vào nhà mình và ngồi vào bàn. 37 And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down to meat. 38 Nhưng người Pha-ri-si lấy làm lạ khi thấy Đức Chúa Jêsus không rửa trước bữa ăn. 38 And when the Pharisee saw it, he marvelled that he had not first washed before dinner.
34 Đèn của thân thể là mắt. Khi mắt bạn rộng lượng, toàn bộ thân thể bạn sẽ sáng sủa; nhưng nếu nó hẹp hòi, thân thể bạn sẽ tối tăm. 34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. 35 Vậy hãy coi chừng, kẻo sự sáng trong bạn trở thành bóng tối. 35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.
33 Không ai thắp đèn rồi để trong tủ hay dưới thùng đựng, nhưng để trên chân đèn, để những người đi vào đều thấy ánh sáng. 33 No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.
32 Dân thành Ni-ni-ve sẽ xuất hiện trong ngày phán xét với thế hệ này và sẽ lên án họ, vì họ đã thay đổi lòng mình khi nghe lời rao giảng của Giô-na, nhưng ở đây có một người vĩ đại hơn Giô-na. 32 The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
31 Nữ hoàng phương nam sẽ xuất hiện trong ngày phán xét với những người của thế hệ này và sẽ lên án họ, vì bà đã từ tận cùng trái đất đến để nghe lời khôn ngoan của Sa-lô-môn, nhưng ở đây có một người vĩ đại hơn Sa-lô-môn. 31 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.
29 Khi đám đông tụ họp, Ngài bắt đầu nói rằng: "Thế hệ gian ác này xin một dấu lạ, nhưng sẽ chẳng cho dấu lạ nào ngoài dấu lạ Giô-na. 29 And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. 30 Như Giô-na đã là dấu lạ cho dân thành Ni-ni-ve, thì Con Người cũng sẽ là dấu lạ cho thế hệ này. 30 For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation.
27 Khi Ngài còn đang nói, thì có một người phụ nữ trong đám đông lên tiếng thưa rằng: "Phước cho dạ đã cưu mang Thầy và vú đã cho Thầy bú!" 27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. 28 Ngài đáp: "Phước cho những ai nghe và giữ lời Đức Chúa Trời!" 28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
21 Khi một người mạnh mẽ được vũ trang đầy đủ canh giữ nhà mình, thì của cải của người ấy được an toàn; 21 When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: 22 Nhưng nếu có người mạnh hơn đến và thắng người ấy, thì người ấy sẽ lấy áo giáp mà mình đã tin cậy và chia của cải mình. 22 But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. 23 Kẻ nào không theo ta thì chống lại ta, và kẻ nào không cùng ta thu góp thì tan tác. 23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. 24 Khi một tà linh ô uế ra khỏi một người, nó đi qua những nơi khô cằn để tìm nơi nghỉ ngơi. Khi không tìm thấy, nó nói: "Ta sẽ trở về nhà mà ta đã bỏ đi." 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25 Khi nó trở về, thấy nhà đã được quét dọn và sắp xếp ngăn nắp. 25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26 Nó bèn đi và đem theo bảy tà linh khác gian ác hơn nó, rồi chúng đến ở đó. Tình trạng cuối cùng của người đàn ông đó còn tệ hơn tình trạng trước. 26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.
10 Hễ ai xin thì được; ai tìm thì thấy; và ai gõ cửa thì sẽ mở cho. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 Trong các ngươi, ai khi con mình xin cá mà lại cho rắn? 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Hay là xin trứng mà lại cho bò cạp? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 Nếu các ngươi là người xấu, còn biết cho con cái mình những vật tốt, huống chi Cha các ngươi ở trên trời lại chẳng ban những vật tốt cho những kẻ xin Ngài sao? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? 14 Đức Chúa Jêsus trừ một con quỷ câm. Sau khi quỷ đã ra khỏi, người đó nói được, và đám đông lấy làm lạ. 14 And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered. 15 Nhưng có mấy kẻ trong bọn họ nói rằng: Người ấy nhờ Bê-ên-xê-bun, là chúa quỷ, mà trừ quỷ. 15 But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. 16 Kẻ khác muốn thử Ngài, bèn xin Ngài một dấu lạ từ trên trời. 16 And others, tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven. 17 Nhưng Ngài biết ý tưởng họ, nên phán rằng: Nước nào chia rẽ thì sẽ bị hoang vu, nhà nào chia rẽ thì sẽ sụp đổ. 17 But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth. 18 Nếu Sa-tan chia rẽ chống lại chính mình, thì vương quốc của nó sẽ tồn tại thế nào? 18 If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub 19 Nếu ta nhờ Bê-ên-xê-bun mà trừ quỷ, thì con cái các ngươi nhờ ai mà trừ quỷ? Vậy nên, chính chúng sẽ là quan xét các ngươi. 19 And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. 20 Nhưng nếu ta nhờ ngón tay Đức Chúa Trời mà trừ quỷ, thì vương quốc Đức Chúa Trời đã đến trên các ngươi. 20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you.
